The TopLaxRecrits.com Preseason Girls’ Southern Rankings:
1. St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (VA) 2-0: The Saints opened their season with dominating wins over Bryn Mawr SG (MD) and Barron Collier (FL). They host PA power Agnes Irwin March 30.
2. Bishop Ireton (VA) 3-0: The Cardinals opened their season with strong wins over Georgetown Visitation, Hill Academy and Bishop McNamara. They play Academy of Holy Cross (MD) today in a key matchup in the WCAC.
3. Milton (GA) 5-1: The Eagles defeated southern rival Vero Beach 7-5 before falling to McDonogh School (MD), the #1 team in the nation.
4. Vero Beach (FL) 10-3: The Fighting Indians fell to No. 3 Milton 7-5. They went on to defeat Charlotte CDS (NC) 10-7. They finish their regular season with games against Bartram Trail (FL), Cold Spring Harbor (NY) and Radnor (PA).
5. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.) 6-0: The Wildcats remain undefeated with a 19-5 win over Chapel Hill.
6. Lake Highland Prep (FL) 10-1: The Highlanders topped previously ranked #6 St. Thomas Aquinas 12-9. They play Barron Collier today.
7. St. Anne’s-Belfield (VA) 2-1: The Saints defeated Flint Hill School 11-10. They play St. Gertrude today.
8. St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) 9-2: The Raiders fell to Lake Highland Prep 12-9.
9. Olympia (FL) 14-2: The Titans added two wins over First Academy and Bishop Moore. They have a long break before finishing their season.
tie 10. Ponte Vedra (FL) 10-3:The Cowgirls fell to McDonogh (MD) 20-4. They finish their season at the end of March after a long break.
Under consideration: American Heritage (FL) 14-1, Charlotte Catholic (N.C.) 5-2, Charlotte Country Day School (N.C.) 6-1, Collegiate School (VA) 1-1, Coppell (TX) 6-3, H.B. Plant (FL) 9-0, Hutchison (TN) 2-0, North Gwinnett (GA) 7-1, Robinson (VA) 4-0, St. John’s (TX) 4-2, Trinity Episcopal (VA) 1-0, Walton (GA) 6-2, Woodgrove (VA) 0-0.
